The team at The Sharp Group, along with friends and supporters, are taking on an incredible cycling challenge this May — and they’re doing it for a cause close to all of our hearts.

Pedalling 240 kilometres over three days along the north coast of France, the team will journey through some of the most historically significant landscape in Europe, culminating on the beaches of Normandy — in honour of those who gave everything there, and for the elderly people in our community who need us today.

It’s a fitting tribute. Many of the people we support at The Communi-Tea Circle lived through the shadow of the Second World War, and some carry memories of that era that shaped their entire lives. This ride is for them too.

The team will be covering around 80 kilometres a day across three days of cycling, taking in the stunning — and at times challenging — coastal roads of northern France before arriving at Normandy, one of the most poignant destinations in the world.

Every penny raised will go towards keeping our social gatherings running for elderly people across Hornchurch, Upminster and the surrounding areas — a warm, welcoming space for those who live alone and may not have the support network they deserve.
